The only good tournaments URI seems to get into more recently seem to be restricted to when it plays at Mohegan Sun. Unfortunately that can only happen every four years. Given we are coming off four straight losing seasons and do not travel well outside this area, we are not really a desirable team for tournaments.

Time for the Quahog Cup; URI, Bryant, Brown, and another from the region, hosted by URI.

Makes sense. If you can’t get any party invites then have your own party.

How about Rhody, two other New England schools (rotate NE schools) and one outside the region ?

First one could be say, Rhody, Vermont, Northeastern and a lower mid-level P6 team ?

The P6 team likely wouldn’t want to come to the Ryan Center so, we would have to find another local venue.

Absolutely not.

Even if we don’t get big time tournaments at least we’ll play 1/2 P5 teams OOC in the lower tier MTEs.

Maybe, some of us here, and others desire URI to be a significant player in the deep end. It is apparent to me URI is longer in that level. Generate some local/regional interest is the mid pool depth.

2 years ago we played Kansas State in a tourney along with LSU in the Cayman Islands. I'd say of the fanbases we showed out pretty well.

IDK are we just looking for reasons to shit on the team now?
If you say you’re a Rhody fan, I know you are my brother. For you have suffered as I have suffered.

It’s not as much what tournaments we are in, it’s what we do in these tournaments.

Would love URI to get into the Charleston Classic one of these years as it always has a strong field. It is an ESPN operated event that has been held nearly every season since 2008. UMass and St Bonaventure have won it and many other present A-10 teams have participated over the years (Davidson 4x, Dayton 3x, GMU 2x, St Joe's 2x, VCU, & LaSalle). Rhody has never appeared in it. URI did however participate once (2014) in the network's similar type tournament ESPN Events Invitational held near Orlando.

PC agreed to do a future game at Mohegan Sun in exchange for being allowed to drop out of its HOF Tournament to play at The Battle 4 Atlantis with a far better field. It will be interesting to see if something similar happens with BC as they dropped out after PC exited. The HOF will now be just a three team event with UMass, Temple, and Florida St (late replacement).

Also worth noting that BC may have dropped a potential contest with UMass but picked up a neutral site game in Annapolis with VCU of the A-10.

I would expect a MTE for URI. Glad it won't be Daytona again...that was an awful venue, both the hotel and the gym.

URI typically participates every year in such an event. We knew for a very long time in advance that they were a part of the 2023 Mohegan Sun HOF MTE last year and the official pairings were eventually announced on May 23rd. It is however getting pretty late in the process for these tournaments. Many of the best MTE's are booked years in advance. If our Rams were already slotted for a tournament, I would have thought that some word would have leaked out by now. If we have not committed yet, the MTE's still with available spots are not likely to be top quality events. URI is probably at a near all time low point in its attractiveness for a tournament given it is coming off four successive losing seasons. It is therefore not inconceivable that Rhody may not play in a multi game event this year. That might help explain why it may be trying to set up a neutral site game with Temple.

For mid June, there is surprisingly little already known about URI's upcoming OOC schedule. Rhody can play up to thirteen non league games. By my count, it seems we are confirmed for just five games with a neutral site match with Temple also being rumored.
